A KwaZulu-Natal nursery school teacher was tortured with burning plastic in a farm attack, according to a report.
The attack happened near Pongola on Doulina Slabbert and her husband Armand’s farm, where Doulina runs a kindergarten.
According to Netwerk24, four robbers entered the premises on Saturday and grabbed Doulina, taking her to the house where her husband was.
They first tied up Armand’s disabled brother and then took the couple to their bedroom.
"They tied up Doulina, set plastic alight and let it drip on her belly," their neighbour Jess Strumpfer told Netwerk24.
This was apparently done to get Armand to tell the robbers where the valuables were hidden.
The men then took the two sets of keys for the couple’s bakkies, but when Armand got loose and confronted them, they fled without the vehicles.
Doulina was taken to hospital for treatment, but has since returned home.
No arrests have been made.
