Johannesburg – A 38-year-old sergeant was arrested for allegedly shooting a woman dead at the Kempton Park police station, police said on Wednesday.
The officer was at the station at 20:30 on Tuesday when he apparently heard a loud bang and went outside, Lieutenant Colonel Tshisikhawe Ndou said.
Once outside, he saw that a 44-year-old woman had crashed her car into a parked duty vehicle, said Ndou.
“The suspect subsequently shot the victim dead and he was immediately arrested. It is still unknown what prompted the shooting.”
The Independent Complaints Directorate had since taken over the investigation.
The man was expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of murder.
